Buying a puppy from interstate

This leads on from the previous topic about paying a deposit for a puppy, concerning meeting the breeder/purchaser and knowing what you are getting and where it is coming from. The ubiquitous internet now allows people to source puppies from all over the country, however I’m not sure this is such a good thing.

If there are strong references available for either/both parties then OK, but do be careful about obtaining a puppy from someone interstate that you know nothing about, apart from a possibly wildly misleading advertisement online.

I won’t send one of my precious pups on a plane or in a dog trailer to someone I’ve never met but who tells me in an email how caring and knowledgeable they are about Labradors.

I believe references are essential, for both breeder and purchaser.
